The endings of Chinese Handcuffs, Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, Running Loose, and Stotan! leave the reader with some unanswered questions. Chris Crutcher assumes the reader knows the ending, but he doesn't come out and say it. You take control and write the overview of one more chapter to these books. If there was one last chapter, what would it be about. How would you tie up loose ends, if you were the author?
In the last and final chapter i would add Vergil's honest point of view on his daughter and how he feels about Mrs Lemry having to adopt her at the end. I would also say how Eric is doing with his injury and how his mother is dealing with Carvars prison sentence. I wished we could include Carvers Vietnam war stories. Carver was the one how keep the loose ends tied together in Erics family

I think Chris Crutcher could've spent more time focusing on Becky's death just because it was such an important piece in the plot but I do not agree that he should end the book about making Becky a new plaque.

ReplyDeletefrom my point of view of holw i read the book i believe that therer is no cliff hanger or annything at the end of the book. though if i were to put more at the end of the book i probably would add if jen and dillion were finally able to have a relation ship like most of the people might have. also ho dillion finished his high school. other than that i think it is fine.
I agree about wanting to know how everything turned out with Dillon and Jen's friendship/relationship. Also, I think it would have been great to see a flash forward to five years from the end of the novel to know more on T.B., Jen's life, and Dillon's life. For example, did they go on to college, were they together in a relationship, was T.B. serving time, etc.

I think with Sarah being the main character and having a lot of big things happen to her throughout the book, another chapter about her would be good. For example when she gets adopted into Ms. Lemry's family. I think it would be cool knowing about Sarah's life when she's happy because her life before getting adopted was not the best. They ended the book with a happy ending but this book could go on and on and more in depth with a few things that left me wondering.

I also feel like he could of went into Becky's point of view before she died so we know why she didn't wear a seat belt.
I agree, i think it would have been nice to know a little bit more of Becky's background before she got in the accident.

Before he was sentenced to anything, I would have had Sarah get the reconstructive surgery, be all healed, and go visit him in jail to show off her looks to him that her new adoptive parents were more than happy to allow her to get.

DeleteIn the last chapter of the book that I am creating I would travel a few years into the future, and it would be a chapter about everybody involved in the book has moved past everything that has happened. Carter would be drafted for the NFL, Boomer would be on a college team, Washington would have earned MVP for an NFL season, and Louie would be training to compete in the Olympics for track. My new chapter will be a reflective chapter of everyone's lives a few years into the future from the rest of the book.

DeleteIn the final chapter I would have it be about Jen and Dillion. When the book finished we don't really know what happened if Jen forgave Dillion or not. So if i made another chapter Jen would end up forgiving Dillion for doing something about her step dad. Thanking him actually that it all finally came to a end. Then the rest of the chapter would just end up being about what happens with Jen and Dillion sense we don't really know what happened now.

It just changed Louie as a person forever and I felt like it really made him a better person. I would of wanted to see more from here parents perspective to see what their initial reactions.
ReplyDeletein the last chapter of running loose it says that Louie will probably go back to school and take out the plaque until the principle learns his lesson and doesn't sign it. and if there was another chapter it might be that Louie gets shot but him and is turned in for it. but seeing as the only lawyer in town is his friend its unlikely that there will be any lasting damage to him. if any thing he will support Louie.

DeleteI think the last chapter in the book Stotan would be Walker deciding if his relationship with Devnee should end. Throughout the book he would talk about how he has to fake his feelings towards her and that the love that he had for her is forced now. Walker is not a "fake" person so I can imagine that he breaks things off with Devnee even though he does not want to hurt her.

I think that another part where he talks to her dad, and they talk about how they're starting to deal with the loss of Becky, and memories that they will always have with her, would have been a better way to end it.
