Conflict--Every book has some sort of conflict that pulls the reader in and keeps the reader reading. Conflict can be person vs. person, person vs. nature, person vs. self, person vs. society, or person vs. the supernatural. Identify the primary conflict in your novel. Who or what is involved with the main conflict? What is the conflict? How does your character handle himself/herself when faced with this conflict? How does this conflict add to the story line of your novel? How is the conflict resolved and what is the outcome?

My book is most definitely person vs. supernatural. The whole main conflict is the fact that young men and women are being murdered yet with DNA evidence being left behind at the crime scene yet the people who are being arrested all have an alibi and definitely werent the people you would expect to cause such a brutal crime.
ReplyDeletesounds like a murder on the orient express kind of story, do you ever feel like you know who the killer is
Deletedude your book is just like mine! in my book, there is a killer on the loose and he only strikes at night, his name is V, and never shows his face or skin. he's killed about 100 men in about a week
DeleteYour book sounds like it has a lot of crime, like mine!
Deletedoes your book include things like ghost or no
DeleteThis sounds like an interesting book that I would definitely want to read!
DeleteYour book seems to have a lot of violence but still seems like a good novel to look into.
DeleteThis book sounds good, sounds like something that I would read if I had to choose a book.
DeleteMy book has a lot of different conflicts. The main conflict in my book is person vs. person and person vs. nature. They both come into play when Ashley the main character has to figure out how to survive on her own out in this huge forest! She has to find her own food and water along with dealing with her injured foot on top of that. She handles this by eating different weeds/plants and dead animals when hungry, and drinks water from the stream when thirsty. With her injured foot she tears a piece of her shirt off and wraps it around her foot to stop the bleeding along with preventing any infection as she walks through the timber barefoot. The whole book is about how Ashley survives in this timber alone for 12 days, so there would be no book without this. The conflict is finally resolved at the end of the book when she finds help.
ReplyDeleteYou have your book finished already? And this seems like a lot of stuff is going on. Did it ever get confusing?
DeleteI can kind of relate my book to yours! The girl in my book didn't do nearly the amount of surviving as yours did, but she did have to survive through a purge-type massacre.
Deletethis sounds like a super interesting book!
DeleteMy novel is a person vs person conflict. Michael faces many conflicts throughout the book from being bullied to keeping a secret from everyone around him, but the main conflict he faces was when both his friend and his mother are kidnaped, and Michael decides to go after them by himself because no one would believe him because doesn’t have any proof that they did it
ReplyDeleteWhat novel is this, sounds very interesting
DeleteYour book is kinda like my plot but a little different
Deleteit's a michael vey series
Deletealso your book is a lot like mine, just non-stop violence.
Deleteyour sound like mine because the main character friends is caught by the police. and he needs to run
DeleteMy story also has person vs person conflict with white and black people not seeing eye to eye with each other yet.
Deletemy books main conflict is survival, I am reading the road by Cormac MCarthy, which is about a father and son trying to survive during an apocalypse. they are forced to keep moving and kill anyone trying to hurt them. Sometimes they are so desperate they will barely eat, just so the supply doesnt run out. They cant stay put very long which leads them to run into a lot of different things that are not safe
ReplyDeletedo you think the father and son will both make it through this hard time in your book
Deletein my book survival is also a big thing in my book being depolyed chris fights for his life everyday
DeleteMy book is about survival not only for the troops sent to Vietnam but for Vietnam itself. We got involved in the war to stop the spread of communism from North Vietnam to South Vietnam and across the globe.
DeleteMy book is all about survival as well. Ashley is fighting to keep herself going even though she is completely lost, alone, and injured.
DeleteYour book sounds like it would be hard to stop reading!
DeleteI agree that the books main conflict is survival. So far the book is all about survival, They struggle to find food and water, and have to avoid groups of armed men. That's all they do and there pretty good at it to.
Deletei agree that the main conflict is survival because they have to be careful whenever they meet anyone because they might kill them and it is very hard to find food
Deletemy book is fosho person vs supernatural because everyone is always getting murdered, but no one knows who the killer is, all he says is "I do not have a name, you can call me V." The conflict dies get very high all the time just be cause the killer is always striking at someone else. my book also is person vs society, because when the Nazis were around, they brainwashed everyone who lives at London, everyone except V. (brainwashed as I everyone knows nothing about our world or how they were born.)
ReplyDeleteThis book sounds very intense and a good read I would be interested in reading it.
Deletethis book sounds like it has lots of plot twist and sounds like a good one to read.
DeleteIn my book has person vs person because of the hostage situations that occurs. Every FBI/ hostage has a differnet conflict in almost every chapter. Like in chapter 7 the main conflict was the Waco, Texas siege, there was a vary of mixed emotions in the different rooms that held the FBI. Which lead to the tanks driving into the compound, but that occurred after the main negotiator had left his station so another negotiator to come in.
ReplyDeleteYour book sounds interesting, like you always want to keep reading it!
DeleteYour book definitely sounds like something i would want to read. I find books that have any word like FBI or hostage very interesting.
Deletethe main character of my book i believe is going through both person vs. self person and person vs. person. person vs person because since he is always robbing banks and stores full of money he is always trying to run from the police trying not to get catch. person vs. self person because with that he does robbing he don't almost no one that can can trust and sometimes he gets to thinking about all of his girlfriends that he had. which make me belive that he make be depress. and with all that thinking he gets more expose to bieng caugth
ReplyDeletesounds like the character has alot going on with himself and it sounds like a book i would have fun reading
DeleteThe self conflict i think work and make everything very interesting
DeleteMy book could also cover the person vs self conflict. Many times throughout the book Ashley just wants give up and not find help. It would be very hard to keep going if I was her!
Deletedo you think he eventually will get caught and if so what will happen to him, whats the name of the book i might have to check it out
ReplyDeletemy book main conflict is person vs person. it is that because it is the natives code talkers trying to get along with the united states solders. it gets fixed when they get to eat together and not in to different spots. this conflict happened for a well before anything was done about it.
ReplyDeleteIn As A Driven Leaf the main character Alisha's dad died its like a person vs self because since his dad died he's been questioning his religion and what he should believe in.
ReplyDeletehave you seen any change in the way she acts
DeleteIn my book the conflict would be person vs. supernatural. The main conflict in my book is when Celina was called by a couple to come and see their home that had been having some unexplainable things happen in it. The conflict would be that Celina is still learning how to deal with her "talent" (being able to see the unnatural). She is learning to cope and understand that what she is seeing is real. The conflict is resolved when Celina was done seeing the house she went home and told her self that from now on she was going to be open about her talent and not hide it from others.
ReplyDeleteIn my book American Sniper the main conflict is chris being depolyed. If he never was deployed he never would have PTSD and lots of other problems inculding how he cant take anyone seriously and his lost of trust for everyone. once you go to the war you cant come back the same.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot more PTSD was seen from the Vietnam war than any other war. I'm not saying they don't get PTSD I just think it wasn't as common. Mainly for the fact of the country they were in, the tactics used by the enemy, and the constant sounds of battle and choppers.
DeleteIn my novel, the main character faces difficulty with the staff at the estate in which she lives along with her husband and the communtiy surrounding the area. She learns the only person she can trust is herself, as she stands by her husband during a difficult time. She finds her voice and resilience in her efforts toward her loyalty to her husband.
DeleteAmerican sniper has been on my reading list of novels and it always seemed like good book so I might start reading it soon
Deletethat seems like a book that would be a good book to read
Deletei can agree in my book that the characters have to deal with being put in the camps and having barley anyone
DeleteIn my book Sweetness Walter Payton encounters many conflicts. One of the main ones is for him to chose the collage he wants to go play football at. He has a choice to go the division one school Kansas State or go to Jackson state. Walter decides to go to Jackson State despite Kansas State heavily recruiting him and telling him that if he wants to make it to the NFL then he would have to go to Kansas State. But Walter made his choice to go to a smaller school and in the end it will pay of for him.
ReplyDeletemight have to read that one, walter payton is one of my favorite players of all time
DeleteMy book is most definitely person vs person or society vs society being the conflict is between countries. The conflict in my book is the Vietnam war. The two main forces here are the United States and North Vietnam also know as the Vietcong or VC. As the book goes on and the years pass we see how the U.S. became more violent and relentless in their efforts to destroy the VC and free North Vietnam from communism.
ReplyDeleteMy book is person vs. society as the main character is forced to be strong and prove herself to those around her, i.e. her husband, the staff on the estate where she lives, and the nearby community. Similar to your book about the United States becoming relentless, the main character in my novel finally finds her voice and becomes resilient in her efforts to protect her husband.
Deleteyour book seems a lot like my book with the conflicts
DeleteI would say that a lot like my book because Over the years of world war 2 You see how the allies and the us defeat the German empire.
DeleteMy book is similar to yours because the United States became more relentless the same way the Nazis became more relentless and fanatic as the war went on.
Deletemy book is very similar my author is not out against a person he is upset with society.
DeleteThe primary conflict in my novel is definitely person vs. Person. The main person involved in my conflicts is Moonbeam who is one of the survivors of the compound, and everyone else from the compound that survived. The conflict is trying to get past everything that happened and everything she saw with Father John. Everday she handles herself differently with the conflict. Some days she is super open to her counselor about what happened, and some days she is super closed off and doesn’t want to tell anything. This conflict is the main storyline of the novel. It goes through her process of getting the help she needs after being stuck into a cult unwillingly for 15 years. I am not sure what the outcome of this conflict is yet because I have yet to finish the book.
ReplyDeleteJaylynne
the characters in my book would benefit from seeing a counselor and talking about their problems
Deletethe conflict in my book is person vs self, the main character Eli has lived through 6 years trapped in an underground bunker and he seems to show signs of paranoia because he seems to think that something bad is going to happen and that the worlds out to get him. the only way I've seen him resolve this conflict is when he's with his family because they seem to be the thing that keeps him sane.
ReplyDeleteMy book is person vs self and it sounds like when thats the conflict, its always because something happened to them that they have to deal with now
DeleteMy person vs self, conflict is almost the exact same situation as your MC, but my MC is stuck underground and contemplates life and goes a little crazy, but he can break out of his shell and changes to become stronger.
DeleteI think the conflict in my book started out as a person vs self conflict because of all of the emotions the main character was having about his uncles death, but now I think a new conflict will be introduced. He is out on the ocean by himself and now a strange wind is blowing, meaning a storm is coming so I think it will be person vs nature.
ReplyDeleteIn my book there is also a person vs self and that is when he first falls into the dungeon and the reason is he is contemplating why he has to be the only “weak” person in his class and how everything is working against him. So, it is person vs self as in he is in his own head fighting himself.
DeleteMy book is person vs. society, as the narrator has to prove herself to her husband, the staff, and the community surrounding Manderley that she is strong, courageous, and able to stand up for herself. The narrator is the new Mrs. de Winter and her conflict is for others to appreciate her as the new wife of Maxim de Winter. The narrator proves her strength to her husband, the staff, etc. when she discovers her husband actually killed his former wife and he seeks her understanding and loyalty. Maxim's new wife admirably stands by her new husband and remains true and loyal to him.
ReplyDeleteWow,this is interesting. I like how they seek the thing they want or need to know about each other.
DeletePayson Hofstetter
DeleteI can relate this to my book because my character Jus has to prove to his culture that he stands up for him even though he goes to a private school and is going to college.
This sounds like a good book. I like how she does all this for her husband.
DeleteMy book is person vs. person. Two of the main characters Calli and Beatriz. Beatriz makes fun of Calli because of her tics and Calli responds to her by ignoring her or telling her off. Like Calli is in the process of moving away and when she tells Beatriz after she made fun of her tics. She told Beatriz that she wouldnt have to deal with her anymore. This proves that Calli knows she is worthy of herself and can handle any situation she may be put through in the future.
ReplyDeleteIn my book the main antagonist is the gods of the other world. The reasons why that is because Hajime was summoned unwilfully and in the dungeon he realized it was all the gods fault, so his goal is to get home, and anyone who gets in the way of that are his enemies. He easily gets into conflict if his friends are threatened or like I said early someone gets in the way of his goal, his current conflict is the king hurt the family of a friend, so they are going to assassinate him.
ReplyDeleteIn my book there is definitely conflict that goes on. As I get more into the book more the more conflict that happens. The conflict they keep running into is they keep seeing groups of men that are armed. My characters the man and the boy handle this pretty well for what they are dealing with they are starving, eating snow for water, and overall struggling to live. And on top of that they keep running into these groups of men that are armed and will probably kill them and they stay calm for the most part and just get away from them.
ReplyDeletei agree because they run into a lot of people and they struggle surviving because the men want to kill the man and the boy
DeleteThe groups of men are a problem but the main problem I would say is them struggling to stay warm and finding food.
DeleteThe men make it hard to travel anywhere because they never know when and where they will run into them so its hard to travel to find food.
Deletein my book the road it has a person vs. nature. i think this because
ReplyDeletethe man and the boy are trying to survive in the outdoors and keep moving or they will die. we don't know what exactly caused the apocalypse but i think it was a nuclear war because there is ashes everywhere.
I think that nature is another conflict in the book. I think that nature does give them some conflict throughout the book so far and I think it will keep being a conflict as the book goes on.
DeleteNature is definitely a huge conflict in the book, they are always struggling to survive in the cold. if its not that then they are struggling for food.
Deletenature is definitely a huge conflict in this book because they live in a horrible environment and is hard to survive.
Deletemy book is also person vs nature your book sounds a lot like mine
DeleteI can relate this to multiple scenes in my book because it takes place in alaska, one specific scene is when his mother and grandmother are on a fishing trip with 8 other family members and the boat sinks due to the conditions and only 3 of the 10 survive jimmy's mother and grandmother as well as his uncle but they still had to survive the alaskan terrain and conditions after they got out of the water until they were rescued.
DeleteIn my book I believe in a thing called love my character goes through person vs person, and person vs self. In person vs person desi goes against her crush she lies about things for him to notice her. Then he finds out she lies and isnt to happy about it. Person vs self she just wanted to accomplish love but it should just happen, she is trying to hard for it to happen. Desi never misses a day of school and never got a B, but she lied and drank to get a guys attention. After she gets caught she finally decides to come clean and face the consequences.
ReplyDeleteMine is also person vs person but its also person vs nature!
Deletemine is also person vs self!
DeleteMy book is also person vs person and there a few poems about trying to get someones attention and failing.
DeleteMy book would be person vs. person conflict. The group of friends are turning against each other trying to find out who the murder is. Makenzie is the only one who believes that Blake didn't kill her friend. The rest of the group all believe is was Blake though, so her and Blake are just trying to prove he's not the killer.
ReplyDeletemy book is similar in the sense that 2 neighboring countries are at war after being in peace for 50 years.
DeleteMine is person vs person with also a murder in mine at the end.
Deletethis book looks like it would be an interesting book to read. In my book they also have person vs person conflict and they go against desi like they go against Blake and think he is the killer.
DeleteThe conflict in my book "The Rise and Fall of Adolf Hitler", is for sure a person vs person conflict. The whole book is about how Hitler is slowly turning into the hateful person every one knows him today as. It stars off him just being a normal kid like every one else then he gets depressed when he goes to do what he loves painting. He gets drafted into ww 1 and blames the wars loss on the Jews. He never comes over this conflict and dies a man full of hate.
ReplyDeleteI like how your book focuses on the personal side of Hitler i dont get to see that in my book.
DeleteI can relate my book Never Quit because the main character jimmy ends up falling into a depression as well because he finds out his heart condition and doesnt know if he can do what he loves anymore which is running.
DeleteIn my book there is no main character but, if there had to be one it would be Hitler because its mostly focused on his work. The conflict in the book would be Self vs society because Hitler is faced with keeping his nation in the fight with Europe and the morale up. He solves these problems by pressing further into enemy territory and keeping the momentum up not wanting Germany to have the same fate it had in the first world war. The conflict is not really resolved once he solves one problem he is either faced with another or makes his own problems.
ReplyDeletemy book is kind of the same in the sense that bth conflicts relved in war. They were also the same in the fact that both books have crazy leaders.
Deletei can kinda relate to your book by how he made the camps for the jews and that he doesnt care about them.
DeleteJimmy is the main character in the novel Never Quit, one of the main conflicts he faces is his heart condition called Supraventricular Tachycardia which causes him to not be as good at track and cross country as he was during high school, another conflict is a battle within himself, the heart condition was a way out of the naval academy but now he had no idea what to do with his life as well as no money and fell into a depression, he eventually got a job as a shoe salesman but was nothing to be proud of, after finally getting into PJ trining he learns to cope with these conflicts by working together with his team even mentioning that encouraging a brother is also a way to take your mind off of your pain other ways were simple phrases that stuck with him like "the only easy day was yesterday" and "you cant win 100% of the time" put jimmy at ease.
ReplyDeleteIn my book the conflict is more like person vs person because it is war between 2 countries but it would be person vs person because it is 2 leaders going at it but they just happen to have an army. the conflict is land dispute between Iraq and Iran. The result of the conflict is millions dead service members and civilians. neither leader handles them selves in a good way but Saddam Hussain was worse in the fact that he would gas his own people if they were protesting the war. they resolve the conflict by the borders staying the same and millions dead.
ReplyDeleteI would say a similarity in our books is the idea of wanting power and being to corrupt to see how it effects there peers.
DeleteMy book is kind of like yours as well, because in a way the result of my person vs person conflict is death or even attempted murder.
DeleteThere is plenty of conflict in my book, but the biggest is probably the person vs person in my book. The main characters are the man and the boy and they have to try to survive against a group of savages. The first time they ran into them they had to try and hid and had to shoot one of them to get away. The last time they found one of the places they stay and had to try and sneak out and run away or they would have been killed and probably ate because the group are cannibals.
ReplyDeletein my book overlord the main conflict within the first book in person vs self. as through out the main character is scared that his followers will betray him. so he acts like a king to keep up appearances despite never actually being one.
ReplyDeletePayson Hofstetter
DeleteI can related person vs self to my book because my character overthinks way to much.
My book is also person VS self because they have many challenges that set them back and they need to motivate themselves to keep going
DeletePayson Hofstetter
ReplyDeleteIn my book it's person vs society conflict. I think that it's person vs society conflict because Jus feels like it's African Americans vs inequality. In the book there is multiple times that a black kid was shot and killed from a cop. Jus has handled the conflict pretty well because he stands up for him and his culture. This conflict adds Jus writing letters talking to MLK and how he's trying to be like him. I haven't finished the book but Jus is trying his best to make publicity about how not everyone is equal.
I like how in your book they stick up for one another and their culture.
DeleteThe conflict in my book is person vs nature. The main charter Brian has gotten in a plain crash and now is trying to survive in the woods. He must find food build shelter and figure out a way to signal for someone to find him he dose not now how long he will be out there it could be 1 day or 1 month.
ReplyDeleteYour book is similar to my book because they both have people needing to survive and try to get rescued
Deletemy book is the same as your because he need to survive in the woods
DeleteThere are many conflicts in my book but the main conflict is person VS nature and person VS self. In my book they get caught in a wildfire and have to try to escape the flames. Along the way they run into many problems like burning arms breaking legs and drowning. They have to keep pushing themselves to keep going after all the problems.
ReplyDeletemy book it is the same because he is try to find a way out of the woods and trying to survive
DeleteMy book has a person vs person conflict due to fighting amongst others, unlike yours that is a person vs self because it is more of a personal conflict. I wonder if it makes a bigger difference in the plot
DeleteA major conflict in my book is between the camps and elie. so the conflict is that elie has to be forced to sleep in a train car and the snow. He's also getting pissed at every one and wants to beat them up but his to closes friends wont let him do it. I feel like this conflict wont end before the book ends i honeslty dont and i say this because its towards the beginning of when this all happened.
ReplyDeleteone of the people in my book beat up another character right before he got told he was gonna die then he regrets it
Deletethe biggest conflict in my book would have to be person vs nature. because the whole book death is hanging over the main characters. they dont do much other then focus on how they are going to die and its out of there control.
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy. imagine having to constantly worry about dying or getting killed.
DeleteEd was trying to help one of his old students he even gave him a sum of money one time because he needed it. The kid ended up getting in trouble and lost his mind he was not in a good mental state. He led the cops on a high speed chase through 2 counties and he got arrested and taken to the mental hospital once they realized he was not well at all. Once he was released the hospital was supposed to notify the police and they did not he got out and found Ed in the weight room and shot and killed him.
ReplyDeleteso it sounds like this would be person vs person? Given that the character has multiple conflicts with other people.
DeleteIn my book, The Sun and Her Flowers, it is a different conflict every page due to it only being a book full of poems. The conflicts are mainly person vs person because the poems are about the authors feelings towards someone who has hurt her or made her feel loved.
ReplyDeletethe characters in my book reflect back on there choices a lot and things that they have been through and i feel in a way your author is reflecting too.
Deletemy book is person vs person too and one of my main characters has feelings and actually has imaginary people pop up in his head when he thinks about then they are his regrets and they people that hurt him and made him feel loved also.
Deletemy book is brains winter and the book is person vs nature and person vs self. brain is facing the person vs nature because he is strained in the wood and he is try to survive in the woods. the person vs self is that he has to survive by him self in the woods with the little tools he has.
ReplyDeletein my book Dillon has a person vs self conflict, when Dillon's friend Preston committed suicide, Dillon tried to stop him but it did not work, and this is guilt that Dillon will have to live with forever which would suck. In my opinion so far this has been the biggest conflict in the book so far.
ReplyDeleteGiven the book is from Edward's point of view, i would have to say it's a lot of person vs self. He has had to learn to control his impulses and figure out a way to love bella, and care for nher, without the overwhelming desire to kill her. The biggest conflict
ReplyDeletehas been just that, him trying to resist the urge to kill her.
my book is person vs society the author is trying to bring awareness to issues that are occurring in America today and he is calling out political groups and ideologies for what he thinks is wrong.
ReplyDeleteMy book, A Thousand Acres has a person vs person conflict. The issue is between a father and his 3 daughters. The father Larry Cook wants to pass the farm land down to his daughters, but not all of them are in favor of it. Larry also decides to cut the one daughter out of his will too, leaving everything to his other 2 daughters. This causes lots of fighting and disagreements between them all, and eventually even leads to some deaths.
ReplyDeletemy book is person vs person as well. sounds like a good book
DeleteI would say my book is person vs person because it is during a civil war and they are fighting to try to get out of the place they are at and everyone heard gunshots and that’s where it pretty much started when everyone was getting shot and trying to run away some kids had to shoot their own parents. When Ishmael faces this he runs away with other kids and try’s to survive on their own with no food or water so they are forced to go back and try to get more food but a soldier spits them and they run off again.
ReplyDeletemy book is person vs person because the point that made me want to keep reading was when she was talking about the time when there was a man in her window and another time was when Jake wouldn't let his girlfriend go home he kept on getting distracted and he kept bringing up more stuff that they should do.
ReplyDelete
